Head of Compliance

ABOUT THE POSITION

Vena Energy is a leading pure renewable Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the Asia-Pacific region, with over 11 GW(1) in operation, construction, and development. Headquartered in Singapore, Vena Energy manages the development, design, procurement, construction and maintenance of its solar, wind and battery energy storage systems in Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. Vena Energy is committed to engaging with local communities throughout the lifecycle of its portfolio projects, as well as incorporating internationally recognized Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards into its strategy and business practices.
 
We are looking for a senior compliance professional to be based in Singapore, Japan or Korea. The incumbent will report to the General Counsel, he/she will be instrumental in driving a strong Compliance culture within the Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing, developing, implementing and communicating Vena Energy’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures in accordance with the highest applicable international standards
  • Monitoring the adequacy and effectiveness of Vena Energy’s compliance policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Engaging with the organisation to identify operational compliance risks and advising the business and functions on how to address and mitigate such risks.
  • Contributing to senior management discussions and communicating with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including reporting to Vena Energy’s Audit & Risk Committee and Board on compliance matters
  • Conducting internal investigations on potential violations across all compliance policies and procedures
  • Conducting and/or supervising internal compliance audits
  • Conducting training for Vena Energy staff, consultants and sub-contractors on Vena Energy’s compliance policies, processes, procedures and system infrastructure
  • Contributing to Vena Energy’s sustainability agenda and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) strategy
  • Drafting internal communications including regular newsletters, policy alerts and other written communications

EDUCATION

Experience

  • At least 15 years’ experience in a Compliance role, with at least 5 years in a senior Compliance role as part of, or directly reporting to, executive management
  • Working knowledge of FCPA, UKBA and experience with FCPA/UKBA related diligence and investigations
  • Strong focus and experience on compliance policies, processes, procedures and system infrastructure
  • Experience with conduct and HR related issues and reputational risk
  • Experience in delivering written communications and in person training to a geographically and culturally diverse organisation
  • Experience working with teams in Japan, Taiwan and/or Korea will be an added advantage

SKILLS

  • Very high-quality level of written English suitable for company-wide communications and contributions to Vena Energy’s sustainability report and other external communications
  • Confident and assured communicator who enjoys interacting and building relationships with people at all levels of an organisation and at ease working in multicultural environments
  • Dynamic, solution-orientated approach to compliance issues
  • Confident and efficient decision making and implementation of strategies and initiatives
  • Travel may be required
