Singapore, 9 October, 2017 – Equis Energy (Equis), Asia‐Pacific’s largest renewable energy IPP, has commenced selling power on a 13.8 MW solar project in Noheji town in Aomori Prefecture, Japan.
In Japan, Equis owns 40 projects comprising 0.9 GW and has a further 1.3 GW under development. At its regional headquarters in Tokyo and local offices in Shichinohe, Kasama and Fukushima, Equis employs over 60 professionals well‐versed in development, design, project management and investment.
Adam Ballin, Representative Director, said, “Japan’s commitment to renewable energy has broad popular support across the nation, and Equis has forged especially strong ties to the community in the Aomori area, where we have a portfolio of 10 operational and under‐ construction solar projects that have an energy generation capacity of over 170 MW. Not only do these projects provide low‐cost clean energy, but also they allow us to offer jobs to the community.”
The Noheji project will generate 33,925 MWh of energy per annum and on an annual basis, provide 5,729 households with electricity, save 16,652 tons of CO2 as well as 28 million liters of water.
