Vena Energy Announces the Commercial Operation for Phase 1 of the Yunlin Solar Project in Taiwan

Vena Energy, Asia-Pacific’s leading renewable energy company, announced today that the first phase of the “Yunlin” Solar Project has been successfully commissioned. Built on 300-hectares of reclaimed land off the coast of the Taixi Township in Southern Taiwan, the first phase of the Yunlin Solar Project has a capacity of 134 MW and features 340,000 photovoltaic solar panels that were installed on the northern part of the island by a peak workforce of over 600 workers. Compared to thermal energy generation, the project is capable of providing over 31,000 households with clean energy, while saving nearly 152 million tonnes of water, and reducing over 107,400 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

“Despite the strong northeastern monsoons, material shortages, and the precautions required during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, we were able to deliver the first phase of the Yunlin Solar Project on schedule, thanks to the strong support from 73 local companies in Taiwan,” said XS Koo, Head of Vena Energy Taiwan. “This project is dedicated to our host communities. We are grateful for their continued support, and we will continue to engage them through our social activities. With this project, we reinforce our commitment to enabling Taiwan to achieve its 20 GW renewable energy target by 2025, and we look forward to working with our local stakeholders, and for the next generation of sustainability-minded professionals to join us in achieving our goals.”
