Vena Energy, one of Asia-Pacific’s leading Independent Power Producers (IPP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Chang Jung Christian University (長榮大學) and its affiliated high schools, with the aim to prepare and develop the next generation of renewable energy professionals through internships and a seven year university program on the application on renewable energy technology. The MOU was signed by XS Koo, Head of Vena Energy Taiwan, and President Lee Yung-Lung of the Chang Jung Christian University.

Chang Jung Christian University has set up a School of Safety and Health Sciences, a first in Asia, focusing on green energy, environmental studies, safety, and health. The university has also established the Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources. As part of the strategic partnership, Vena Energy will work closely with the School of Safety and Health Sciences to promote exchanges with university professors and internship training programs to cultivate renewable energy professionals.

Vena Energy, together with Chang Jung Christian University and its partner high schools will also apply to the Ministry of Education to establish a seven-year “Vena Energy Green Energy and Technology Application Bachelor of Science Program.” The undergraduate program will provide undergraduate students with theoretical knowledge and practical experience in renewable energy education and technological applications starting from high school. The program will see renewable energy topics included within the high school curriculum, and four years of professional knowledge and technical training at Chang Jung Christian University’s Department of Green Energy and Environmental Resources.

In addition to the planning of the curriculum, Vena Energy will also cooperate with Chang Jung Christian University in environmental survey projects. Through these projects, Vena Energy hopes to gain further insights and understanding of its host communities, while proposing future development initiatives and enhancing its engagement with residents.

“Renewable energy development is one of the main trends in Taiwan and across the world. The formation of qualified renewable energy professionals is the key to the future of the green energy industry”, said XS Koo, Head of Vena Energy Taiwan. “As one of Taiwan’s leading independent power producers, Vena Energy is fully committed to collaborate with our local stakeholders on activities that bring positive and long-lasting effects to our communities, such as innovation and education.
