Taean Wind Power selects LS Cable as preferred submarine cable supplier for 500MW OFW Project in Korea    

[Seoul, Korea; 21 Nov 2024]  Vena Energy, a leading green solutions provider in the Asia-Pacific region, announced that its subsidiary, Taean Wind Power, has selected LS Cable & Systems (“LS Cable”) as the preferred submarine cable supplier for the 500 MW Taean Offshore Wind Farm in South Chungcheong Province, Korea. 

Situated about 30 km off the coast of Taean, this flagship project is the county’s most advanced offshore wind initiative. Construction is scheduled to start in late 2026, with operations expected to commence by late 2029. The offshore wind (OFW) turbines installed in the ocean to harness wind energy will generate clean electricity to power approximately 300,000 homes annually. 

Taean Wind Power was established to spearhead the development and operation of the Taean Offshore Wind Project. Vena Energy, headquartered in Singapore, is a leading provider of green energy and digital solutions with a renewable energy portfolio totalling 39GW of Onshore Wind, Solar, and Offshore Wind projects and a green infrastructure pipeline including 24 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), 620 MW DC of Data Centers, and 848KTPA of Green Hydrogen and Ammonia. 

Vena Energy’s 17GW offshore wind development pipeline spans across Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and the Philippines. Since entering the South Korean market in 2018, the company has actively advanced a diversified portfolio of renewable energy projects including the Taean Offshore Wind Project.  

LS Cable will supply high-voltage subsea cables which are crucial for transmitting renewable energy from offshore turbines to the onshore grid. Their scope includes engineering, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of cables designed to withstand offshore conditions and ensure reliable power transmission for decades.
