Vena Energy Achieves Commercial Operation of 176 MW Gudadur Hybrid Project in India

[Bangalore, India; 19 December 2024] – Vena Energy, a leading provider of green energy solutions across the Asia-Pacific region has announced the commercial operation of its 176 MW Gudadur Hybrid Project. This landmark project, integrating both solar and wind technologies, exemplifies Vena Energy’s commitment to innovative renewable solutions.

Strategically located in Karnataka, the Gudadur Hybrid Project combines 48 MWp of solar capacity and 128 MW of wind capacity, delivering reliable and sustainable power around the clock.

“This successful commissioning of the Gudadur Hybrid Project reflects our commitment to pioneering innovative green solutions that harness the unique strengths of both solar and wind energy. By optimizing these complementary sources, we enhance grid stability, improve energy efficiency, and support India’s decarbonization efforts,” said Nitin Apte, CEO of Vena Energy. “As the renewable energy landscape evolves, projects like Gudadur showcase the potential of hybrid solutions to deliver better power generation profiles to our customers.”

Expected to generate enough clean energy to power over 500,000 households annually, the Gudadur project’s annual generation will be equivalent to avoiding approximately 73,600 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year and taking over 15,000 cars off the road.

Beyond its positive environmental impact, the project created over 700 local jobs at peak construction, with 70% of the workforce sourced from nearby communities, and awarded 50% of contracts to local service providers, supporting the local economies.

The successful energization of the Gudadur Hybrid Project demonstrates our team’s technical excellence, with grid integration achieved within two weeks of grid readiness,” said Monika Rathi, Head of India at Vena Energy. “This project showcases Vena Energy’s operational capabilities and strengthens our commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable energy solutions to the communities we serve.”

The Gudadur Hybrid Project marks a key advancement in Vena Energy’s mission to accelerate the energy transition throughout the Asia-Pacific region. With this project, Vena Energy’s total operational capacity in India now reaches 875 MW, supporting the country’s target of sourcing 50% of its electricity from renewable resources by 2030.
