Vena Energy, Asia-Pacific’s leading renewable IPP, announced today the winners of the inaugural “Blue Sky Environmental Speech Contest” in South Korea. The contest was held on 19 December at the Sejahtera Forest in the city of Tongyeong, which was designated as South Korea’s first Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development by the United Nations University.

The theme of the contest was “Our Environment and Future”, and its goal was to cultivate the interest and appreciation for the environment among the elementary and middle-school students. Referencing the theme, the students had to deliver a speech that included their ideas on how to “regain the blue sky” by reducing environmental pollution caused by fine dust. The students’ speeches were evaluated based on their content, persuasion, creativity, communication skills and expression, and a total of 10 students were admitted into the finals.

The judges for the “Blue Sky Environmental Speech Contest” included Kwangjin Cheong, Head of Vena Energy Korea; Ilsang Jeong, a Korean language teacher at a high school in Tongyeong for 35 years; Jinseok Gong, Head of Vestas Korea; Youngbong Ham, General Manager of the Haewon Cultural Foundation; and Chansung Park, Managing Director of Dohwa Engineering. 

To ensure the safety of all participants, the event was conducted via teleconferencing in Seoul and in Tongyeong, in compliance with the guidelines and regulations of the local government.

After careful evaluation and deliberation, the judges awarded the following prizes to the respective winners.

“These children have demonstrated their ingenuity and desire for a cleaner environment and clear blue skies, and we have to take every step in ensuring that we preserve our planet so that they can continue to enjoy it as we do now,” said Kwangjin Cheong, Head of Vena Energy Korea. “We look forward to supporting the communities through more initiatives in the future, as we work closely towards decarbonizing the economy through renewable energy.”

“This competition is expected to be a great place for students to reconfirm their high interest in the environment and share their creative perspectives with communities.” Said Ilsang Jeong, one of the judges who taught students in high school students in Tongyeong.

파란하늘 환경스피치대회 보도자료

통영지역 초·중학생들을 대상으로 뷔나에너지가 주최한 파란하늘 환경스피치 대회가 통영RCE 세자트라숲에서 지난 19일 개최되었다.

대회는 ‘우리의 환경 그리고 미래’라는 주제로 지역 초등학교, 중학교 학생들이 참가했다. 예선을 거쳐 본선에 진출한 10인(초등5, 중등5)이 각자의 기량을 발휘하여 미세먼지 및 환경오염으로 보기 어려워진 파란하늘을 되찾는 다양한 방법을 참신한 아이디어를 담아 스피치로 표현했다.

심사위원들은 학생들의 스피치 내용의 충실성, 설득력, 창의성, 전달력 및 표현력을 기준으로 평가했다.

대회 결과 초등부에선 고혜림 학생이 ‘세계시민교육을 통한 지구 온난화 극복하기’란 주제로 대상을 차지했다. 이예준 학생은 ‘재생에너지로 미세먼지 없는 파란하늘 만들기’란 주제로 최우상을, 김가림 학생은 ‘내일의 주인공, 신재생에너지’를 주제로 장려상을, 배서윤 학생은 ‘지구, 환경 그리고 우리’란 주제로 입선을, 박지우 학생은 ‘시원한 풍력에너지, 따뜻한 미래와 만나다’란 주제로 입선했다.

중등부에서 이준민 학생이 ‘우리의 자연은 더 이상 기다려주지 않는다’란 주제로 대상을 차지했다. 강지원 학생은 ‘지구를 위한 탄소 제로 솔루션’이란 주제로 최우상을, 곽운서 학생은 ‘신재생 에너지를 활성화하자’란 주제로 장려상을, 박희민 학생은 ‘우리가 선택할 미래’란 주제로 입선, 김은서 학생은 ‘우리의 미래와 그린뉴딜’을 주제로 입선 했다.

이번 대회를 개최한 뷔나에너지 정광진 한국대표는 “참여 학생들은 독창적인 스피치를 통해 깨끗한 환경과 맑고 푸른 하늘에 대한 관심을 보여주었다. 뷔나에너지는 지구를 지키는 일에 더욱 힘쓸 것이다.”고 말했다.

또한 심사위원 중 한 분이며 통영에서 35년간 교직에 계셨던 정일상 선생님은 “이번 대회는 환경에 대한 학생들의 높은 관심을 확인하고, 이에 대한 창의적인 시각을 함께 공유할 수 있는 좋은 대화의 장이 되었다”고 말했다.

대회의 심사위원은 정일상 전 통영여고 국어교사와 베스타스 공진석 본부장, 해원문화재단 함영봉 연구원, 도화엔지니어링 박찬성 상무 그리고 뷔나에너지 정광진 한국대표가 맡았다.

이날 행사는 코로나의 방역 지침을 준수하여 서울과 통영에서 이원생중계 방식으로 진행되었으며, 통영RCE 세자트라숲은 참가자 이외 동행자는 2인으로 제한하였다.
